We all have something that we believe deeply is true. Something that something has to do with an injustice, or something unfair. Other times, that something has to do with a right, or something we believe all people should have. These beliefs are our issues.
In one paragraph, describe an issue you have taken on as one of your beliefs. I expect responses to be at least five sentences and to include what the issue is and why you feel so strongly about it.

My issue is that people are so rude to other people.I feel strongly about this issue because people are never nice to me out in the public. When ever i go out into the public people are always bumping into you and they dont say excuse me. I also think that people don't have any manors when you say "Thank you" and they don't say "Your welcome". The final reason is that there is no reason to be mad at random people so they should just be nice and politee to you.

Some people are not as fortunate as some of us and dont have a house to live in or food to eat every day.I believe that everyone should have a right to some kind of shelter and some kind of food. Not necessairly a huge house and not a gourmet meal but at least something to eat and a way to survive.
ReplyDeleteMy biggest issue is having to wake up early in the morning to get ready to go to school.I belive that school should start later because it is sometimes hard to wake up when you are really tired.Also i think that school should start later because many people arent fully awake and thay dont do there best work during there early morning periods.If some people cant do there best work in the morning then they arent going to get the grade that they should have.

ReplyDeleteSomething that I believe is true is that all people should be accepted as who they are and how considerate they act, but if they're mean for no reason and you gave them a fair amount of time to change then you should just leave them be. I think someone should always give another person a chance to see the real them because now a days kids take one look at you and turn their noses saying"weirdo". Now kids only care about how you dress or how many shoes/outfits you have(the girls mainly care about this, I think it takes the honor of women a huge step back). You should always chose the way you treat someone wisely because sometimes you don't know,know someone by just how they dress or act in front of others,trying to fit in because they think no one would like the real them. This just gets me annoyed at how kids these days care about nothng more than themselves. This is what I believe in and others should try to, too, its nice.
ReplyDeleteI think we should all have cell phones because if you need to contact your parents or your guardian you are able to call them. The reason why I think everybody needs a cell phone is that you don't have to go around and ask people to use their phone. You also don't have to worry if they're going to say no. I also think that when you get one it's going to be easier on you to know who's piking you up. If your parents don't think that you need one just say that if you trying to find me and I have my cell phone with me you can call my cell phone instead of calling everyone else.

One issue I have is that whenever I go on vacation with my family my dad always wants to "check out" museums or historical sites. While we were in Pennsylvania we went to Amish Country, it was over 100 degrees out but my dad didn't care we just went in and out of the houses that of course didn't have AC. Whenever we go into NYC to see a play we always have to stop by the Museum of Natural History and look at the new exhibit. When we went to St.Croix there weren’t any museums around but we still had to learn about cotton in a history walk, I had a lot more fun when we went scuba diving, snorkeling and kayaking. The point of a vacation is to get away from all the learning and just relax but my dad sees it as another time to learn and that’s why I think the only times museums should be visited by kids is for school field trips.
ReplyDeleteI believe that all people have a good side, even if they don't act like they do. The only reason someone would ever hate you is because they want to be like you. For example: A lot of people dislike me because they think that I am odd. But in some way, I admire them because of how many trustworthy friends that they have, when I have only a few good friends and the rest turn on me every so often. But I think that THEY admire me because all of my friends are fun-loving, go-getting people with great personalities. Some people desire more than they can get, so they go overboard and rant on and on about that one thing that they cannot grasp.

I think people should have their rights as in they should stand up for themselves. You shouldn't let something small stand in your way. For example if someone's bossing you around too much and you know that you never tell the person to go pick this, that, and so on. You don't want them to take over because that's just unfair, you obviously have to tell them to stop and learn how to say no too. It is very important to stand up for yourself because if you don't people will take advantage of you and you'll become weak.
ReplyDeleteAn issue I have is readin for 25 or 30 minutes a night at home. because I always say "oh im going to do it in like a couple of minutes..." but then I always forget to do it. because I want to get it done but then again I dont want to read. And thats been my problem for a long time, but sooner or later I will solve that problem by reading more often as I can...
ReplyDeleteI am strongly against people who don't care for the enviroment at all. I think that people should recycle and take care of our eath. I also believe that we shouldn't waste our resources such as water. It's unfair to the planet, the animals and the other people who live here, that's why I feel so strongly about it. I mean, in 50 years, do we want the earth to be a garbage dump? That would be discusting, and its just plain rude. Also, even though it isn't a law to recycle, people should try harder to follow the laws about littering. That is why I believe in recycling deeply and why taking care of the earth matters and is very important to me.

One issue I have taken as one of my beliefs is homework. There is way to much to do after getting home from sports, then you have to do family chores maybe help your parents get something at the store or mail. Also its very hard for kids like me who have sports till 5, jazz band or chamber orchestra till 7 then after school winter league lacrosse till 10 to find time in there schedule for homework. Even if i means adding 10-15 min onto each period to do homework that’s ok. But shouldn’t the teacher be teaching the kids enough in school that they don’t need even more practice. In my opinion every Monday we should get a project that is due Monday morning every week from each class. I’m not against homework but homework should be kept to a minimum to allow a little “ME TIME“. Office work at the office family time at home.

I believe that when doing something you should always make sence that way people understand what you are saying,like if an author writes a story and it ses something like-Allison snatched Ashleys letter and ran then kirk left me. It doesnt soound right and no one would want to read the story let alone hear it. Thats my biggest issue with how people dont make sence and why I hate when people make no kind of sence.

ReplyDeleteI believe dogs should be treated equaly to humans. Just because they cant talk doesnt mean they dont feel or have emotions. Dogs express there feelings by growling,whining,and wagging there tails.My dog has a lot of emotions. She sometimes is jeolous of her son Pup pup.

I agree with payton...Reading 25-30 min at home is a problem for me. After doing sports until 5 then doing all homework, chores, blogs from other classes and eating dinner im just pooped. Plus its already 9:30-10:00 at night. Its just to hard to sit down and read for an additional 25-30 min. The reading is forcing me to stay up later and loose focus during school.

ReplyDeleteI dislike school. I believe that it is important to be educated but somethings things are piontless. Like variables in math, when do you ever have to use them in real life. In school most kids do not like school but at least some classes are fun and important. you can get no where in life without an education but you should'nt hve to do pointless things. There would be no more asking your parents to take you places and things could get done on your time and not on your parents time. if i could drive then i would be able to get so much done.
ReplyDeleteThis is both my respons and my coment. My issue is kind of like Todd's. My schedual is way to full I have football untill 5 then I have to wait for my ride home. That takes a half an hour for my mom to get me. Then if I take the bus ill get home at 6:00. I timed it one day.But then I get home at like 5:30 then I walk in the door then I eat dinner.Then when im done eating dinner its like 630 then i have to take shower then i get done like 8:00. Then I finally have time to do my homework then I ussaly go to bed like 10:30 so I have a really bussy scedual I barley have time to do homework so also like todd said.I think we learn enough in school so what is the point of all the homework.

I have karate until 6:00 every day except Friday, plus journalism club & show choir. I'm always to busy to do my homework. The only thing I can think of is to read on the bus ride home and a little more when im home and also the next morning on the bus.

I think thats really important also. It isn't fair that some kids judge people by how they dress or their apperance. Cause some kids might not be able to shop at expensive stores and they don't have nice things like some people do. I beleive you should look at their attitude and how they treat others.
One issue I have is I can't stand when people are talking when the teachers are giving direction, becuase it's just rude.Then five minutes later they are like "What do I have to do?". It's so annoying, because the teacher just said what you had to do.Then after you retell them what to do they just sit there, and it's like why ask me if your not going to do the work. That is the reason I can't stand people who are talking while teachers are giving directions.

one issue I have taken as a beliefs is that everyone should be treated equally and know one should be hurt by someone who was talking behind there back. I have talked behind peoples back and i did it a lot and i still do but not as much i realized it really hurts when people start rumors about you or if they are just talking about you. Its happen to me my friend was talking behind my back then I got hurt. If you talk about someone your hurting your self and them. The reason your hurting yourself is because they going to talk about you and it will cause a much bigger problem. I know that every girl likes to gossip about people or stuff and I love to do it to. I mean which girl doesn't.but I'm going to try not to cause i have a problem with controlling myself. So i don't get hurt and so other people will not get hurt.

ReplyDeleteOne of my issues I have is when I have to wake up early to go to school. I believe that school should start at 12 o'clock and end around 3 o'clock. I also think that school shouldn't start that early because I think that everyone would be tired and not have the energy to go to school. Since school starts early in the morning, kids don't like school. If school has started at a bit later, then kids might want to go to school. So I think that we should start school a bit later.

(its so annoying!!!) and we should respect people by not cuting them in line for lunch or the snack line because people have to wait and wait so they could get food on the snack line but theres no point because then someone cuts you or when your on the lunch line and your behind someone and there friend is behind you and they say hey .... you can cut, and then they go in front of you.

I feel strongly about bullying. Bullying is not fair at all. I see people getting bullied and I feel bad for them. It is not right, and should be stopped. I don't get why people bully other people, who wants to be mean to people that are younger or weaker than them? It is not fair or right in any way so it should be stopped.

ReplyDeleteOne issue that I have is waiting in lines at amusement parks and water parks. I can't stand waiting next to a sign that reads “Approximately a 45 minute wait from this point.” Amusement parks should have a better system. I believe that amusement parks should only allow a certain number of people in the park a day. This would lower the amount of people on lines and give everyone a chance to go on every ride, making the park more exclusive. Also, if the company is worried about money, people would probably be willing to pay more money to go to an exclusive amusement park where you are guaranteed to go on every ride. I feel so strongly about this because I hate when I get so excited to go to an amusement park and then when I get there, I can’t walk five steps without bumping into someone and waiting forever in a line. I get so excited to go to the park, but the lines spoil the day. This also leads me to believe that I wasted money on my trip. Having fewer people in an amusement park would make everyone’s experience better. This is why I have an issue with the line system, and I think it should be changed.

It is very difficult for me to wakeup at 6:30, go to wind ensemble, go to school, go to soccer practice, go to jazz band, unwind, eat dinner, and then do all my homework. I understand teachers need to give homework to make sure students are paying attention in class, but I also believe there is way too much in each subject. It doesn’t give me time to have a life outside of school. Even if you’re only given a little bit of homework in each class, 6 classes add up to a lot of work each night. I definitely like how the blogs are set up because we get the whole week to complete the assignments. I wish we had this system in every class. That would help me get everything done and still have “ME TIME”.

A bike, a skateboard or even a scooter can be a type of transpotation. These devices will help you get from place to place faster and with less energy being used. That is why everyone should have some sort of transportation.

I have issues with the way people are so racist and prejudice. I mean you can't help to judge a person but you shouldn't do it on their looks or job. I mean I understand people judging or not liking someone because of their personality or actions but they shouldn't judge people because they are spanish for example. ReplyDeleteI have issues with people who are mean to animals. Animals are awesome. They don’t deserve to be treated badly. People should take care of animals not beat them to do something. Instead of beating them to do something people should train them to do it with treats and rewards. You also shouldn’t beat them if they are bad. If they are bad you should talk to them in a stern steady voice and say no until they learn, not ‘listen to me!!!! *beat* “and “no!!!!!!! *beat*”.
I believe that a college education should not be as expensive as it is. Your elementary, junior high, and high school education are all free. Kids learn so much in those years, and some kids come to a dead end when they can't pay for a college education. Many students want to keep going and become successful but they just can't afford it. If you don't go to college, you probably won't have much of a future in any big business, and you will have to get a job right when you end high school. If prices were cheaper, students could go to college and get a good job and have a very successful life. Even if they couldn't afford four years, they could probably afford at least two, and at least that would get them somewhere. If you get a nice job, depending on your study in college, you could have enough money from that job to buy a house, and start a family. I feel so strongly about this because as you plan your future in high school, you don't expect to not be able to afford it, and I'm certain I wouldn't want that to happen to me.

I tihnk we also probably won’t use most of the personal writing techniques. I have no problem with writing [anymore] but the odds are that no one will ever be a famous writer in this school. Payton, I have the same problem I feel like I won't have enough time to read. Payton, if you try finding a book that you like you will look forward to reading and then it will be easier to find time.
ReplyDeleteOne issue of mine is that I am not that organized. Lets say a project is due tomorrow. I would forget and have to stay up the night before it is due and finish it. Or sometimes have to do it the night after because I didn't have it the day it was due.But when I do that my work is never the best because I am rushing. When I get home I have to go to private piano lessons, practice flute, read for thirty minutes, and do my homework along with doing the blogs.(no offense Ms.Sills) If you are that busy than you have to be organized. I have had many problems in my life because I was not organized. This is why I believe we should always double check everything before we do anything.
ReplyDeleteAn issue that I have is when people try to start problems. Today a kid I am on the bus with was trying to start a fight with my friend. It was completely unnessesary for him to do that. He hopped into the seat and slapped him for no reason. It made me really mad to see that someone would want to hurt other people for no reason at all. It just doesn't make any sense that someone has the right to hit people for no reason.

I agree with Victoria because it's not right at all to be prejudice. Don't judge people by their skin, heritage, or nationality. You can't hate something without trying it out. Just like Victoria said "You can't Judge a book by its cover." I think everyone should try out that rule.

ReplyDeleteAn issue that has become one of my beliefs is tolerance. Tolerance is an important virture. Intolerance is shown in every place in the world.Sometimes intolerance is shown in the form of discrimination of someone who is different (skin color, ethnicity, social status.) Some forms of intolerance include bullying, teasing and exclusion. Sometimes, when people are tolerant and don't go along with the discrimination, the intolerance for other person the person becomes intolerance for you. I think that's wrong and that is why I think its an issue.

The only time we are off is on Saturday and Sunday, only TWO days. I really thing school should only be three or four days a week. The one thing that bothers me is when a "friend" pretends to be your friend when really she isn't. I can't stand it when you confide in a friend, share all your thoughts with that person and that friend tells your business to everyone behind your back. It's very mean when a "friend" does this and shows no respect. I call them not a real firend but a fake firend. A fake friend is someone who to your face will be all nice and then behind your back is saying mean things about you to everyone else. I find that those people who are fake are only trying to make themselves look good and but really are only making themselves look dumb. A fake friend is someone I would stay away from.
ReplyDeleteI believe that hockey should be a major sport. Many other people believe that it is just a sport where you try to skate. Also, I think that when people say that it isn't a sport that they are wrong. I even play hockey and it is fun. Hockey is very important to me.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Matt because it really bothers me when I hear about homeless people on the news. It isn't fair that they have no home. Also, I feel bad when it is raining out because I now that those people are getting soaked. They also deserve to have food to eat. If there were more food drives in other schools, and everybody pitched in, the people would have more food to eat.
ReplyDeleteMy issue is that people always judge someone on there looks on the outside, before they get to know someone. If someone is not cool looking people don't get to know them. I think a person should try to get to know someone, see what there like before you decide you don't like them.
ReplyDeleteyuo might like the samethings and have the same interests. If everyone gives a person a try they might find out that the person is nice and you might like them.

ReplyDeleteI belive that we should have phones in our school just incase we have an emergency, we can call our gaurdian. For example, when I was after school for math I had to call my dad to tell him I was staying after school. He didnt answer so I left a message. I was wondering if he would get the message in time to tell my dads friend pat I wouldnt be coming on scheduled time. I was planing to call my dads friend pat but unfotunly i got in trouble for using the phone in school. I think instend of our parents getting worried because were not home in time. In my opinion we should be able to contact them. In about ten minutes later my dad called back saying where are you? I got in troube again. Calling your parents would be better than not letting you parents not know at all. I think that we should only use the phone for emergency cases only so it can be fair for teachers, staff, and students.
ReplyDeleteI can't stand that the school system gives you the choice to drop out of school. The Board of Education should make it mandatory for you to finish your elementary, intermediate, and high school years. Who's smart idea was it to say, "We are going to give you 12 years of school education, but you can stop if you feel it is a little challenging?" It's ridiculous! If you drop out, you'd be lucky to keep a low paying job! Since you can't get a decent job, you can not afford a house or be able to raise a family. They shouldn't give you the chance to throw your life away like that. This issue is one I would like to see changed one day.

Or like one time I was in a restaraunt and they guy said under his breath thank you. I just wanted to say that i was going to say thankyou and you just would have to wait for it.

ReplyDeleteDaren, I agree with you 100 percent. School should start a few hours later than it normally does. I have seen a study on TV that maintains that schools that start later, have more attentive and focused students. This is because the kids starting later get the right amount of sleep to do well in school. Since most schools start early, most of the kids are groggy and physically and mentaly unable to perform their best. This is especially true for older students.
ReplyDeleteI believe that we should be able to have our cell phones on in school. Its just not fair if teachers get to have their phones on and ringing if we can't have ours. Plus what if we had no idea who was picking us up from school so we had to call home. It would just be easier if we could have our phones on during school. And teachers wouldn't have to worry about catching kids with their phones on if phones were aloud to be on!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Noah, if amusmentparks had less people on each line then it would be worth spending your time and money. Nobody wants to wait in line all day and end up only getting to ride two or three ride.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest issue in my life is when people hate other people for no reason what so ever. Just because they hear things about the person that hate them already. I think that is just horrible and everyone should try to get to know the person before they jugde them. I also have a huge issue about people telling other people to hate a person when they didn't do anything to you, just hate them because everyone else does. It just really bothers me.

I agree with matt because food and shelter are the main two things to survive in this world. And without those things it would be immpossible to live espeacially without food and water.

I deeply feel that making fun of someone bothers me a lot. I feel so strongly about that issue because if you said something mean to or about someone, I'm sure you wouldn't like it if someone said the same thing to you. Also, it's rude to say something mean like that. If you don't have nothing nice to say than don't say it at all!=( That is one issue that bothers me the most.
ReplyDeleteSarah Grassi, I feel the same way too! I remember in class, that we all had to write about that and everyone had something to write about. It really isn't fair. Like today, one of my teachers was on their cell-phone. Sometimes it get's me really mad!
ReplyDeleteMy issue is that teachers give too much homework.Every Night I have so much homework that I get about 30 minutes to do whatever I want. I think teachers dont indivigually give too much but all classes combined, you have to do alot. I think that teachers should give one homework assignment per week because then I would have alot more time to do sports, and other things. Like the other night, I got home and did most of my homework,then went to basketball,then came home,finished my homework and went to bed. I had no time to do anything but work.

I agree John. The school should not give you the choice to drop out. If you drop out of school you will have no education and will not get a good job. Most jobs require something you learn in school. So if you have no job that means no money. Your life will be ruined if you drop out of school.

I believe cell phones should be allowed in school. Teachers cell phones ring ALL the time, and sometimes they even pick up. If your phone is on vibrate or silent. Teachers wouldnt have to look out for people on the cell phones, then it wont interupt the class because the teacher wont have to say give me you cell phone. What if your mom or dad doesnt have the schools number and theres a family emergency and calling your cell in class, you cant answer your phone because the teacher will take it away.

ReplyDeleteI agree with John, if you dont have a education or a diploma I doubt anyone can get a good job if you drop out of school. You would be look to keep a decent job.
My issue is that we dont have enough time to get from one class a nother. We should get 5 minutes to get to and from classes. It would be alot easer and noone would be late. And if weir late more than 3 times we should get detenpion. Then noone would ever be late to class.

I strongly feel that they are wrong.No ones life is more important than another.No one deserves to be killed.You have to think that people go to jail for killing others what makes this right? the unborn childes heart is fully developed at 7 weeks.and even before that its in the process of developing into a human heart.No one deserves to be killed especially someone who cant fight back or say no.

The thing that I feel deep about is having cellphones in school. I feel strongly about it because if we have a cellphone in school and by accident someone calls you and you forgot to turn it off you get it taken away unless your teacher is nice enough you dont. What also stinks is that if your phone rings it gets taken away and if the teachers phone rings, their phones dont get taken away. Some of the teachers even pick up their phones and text people. I think if teachers are able to use their phones students should also be able.

I have an issue with all the money America is spending on wars when there are important things going in here. We shouldn't even have the war going on because at the end of it, they will just be so mad at us they will want to attack us again. They destroyed 2 of our towers but we are over in Iraq blowing up their whole country. It is just not right. And no one is really doing anything to stop it. The president is just spending more money on tanks and to train more men. I think war is DUMB.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Matt because you almost always need a degree to get any type of job. What are you going to do during the day? Just sit around and do nothing when you could be at school learning something that you will eventually need at one point of your life. So if you know that you won't get a job, then why would you drop out of school? That's not a smart thing to do.
ReplyDeleteI also have an issue with waking up so early because your tired and you’re not in the mood to go to school at all. You just don’t want to go to school. You sit on the couch trying to close your eyes. You don’t care about getting dressed that early in the morning so you go to school feeling like a geek all day. You don’t care about brushing your hair. You’re not hungry for breakfasts so you don’t get to eat. You get on the bus thinking you forgot everything. So you just have a crummy day all day.

ReplyDeleteI have an issue with people littering, I think that nobody should litter and I bet that if most people knew where their trash was going and what it could do to some animal when they leave it on the ground then I bet alot of people would start puting their garbage in a garbage can. What alot of peole don't know is that they hurting helpless animals by littering.

When you have to take time out to do work for school you are losing quality time with your family and friends. Quality time with your family is very important and now a days its harder and harder to find time to be together.

I have an issue when people act like they are better than everyone else. I hate it when a person won't talk to you or even notice you because they think you aren't good enough for them. I also hate it when these type of people judge others negatively,often for very stupid reasons. These type of people will make fun of people for what their race is, what they wear, who they hang out with, and so much more. I think that this is very unfair and I belive that everyone should treat everyone equally and nicely.

I also agree that people shouldn't have abortions. It really is like killing someone. Can you imagine someone tring to end your life before it even starts? Also by the time most people get the abortion, the baby already has a beating heart and everything. Even though people have their reasons for getting abortions, there are better options, like adopting. There are many people in the world who want to rase a child but can't. They would do anything to adopt a child. I know that I would rather give my child to a family that could take care of it other than ending it's life.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Michelle about when other kids in the class are talking at the same time the teacher is talking. I find it very distracting and also disrespectful. If everyone is talking something can be missed that the teacher was going over and it can be something important that we should have written down. If too many people are talking at the same time I have a hard time concentrating on what the teacher is saying. Some kids have difficulty with writing notes down and listeneing at the same time and when there is someone else talking it makes it more difficult.
ReplyDeleteI strongly believe that us kids should not have religion classes. I hate it. We only learn about religious stuff and its really annoying. I've been going for like 7 years and i feel that im learning the same things over and over. I think that there should be a better and funner way to teach kids about religion. im just so happy that this is my last year.

ReplyDeleteI believe that all people should have an open mind. For example alot of people dont believe in aliens and they think its impossible for there to be another planet that can sustain life. Nobody believes in them because we dont know much about space out of our solar system, but thats exactly why we should believe we dont know wether other beings are out there or not so they shouldnt be so quick to think that were the only planet that can sustain life and that there arent other planets like earth out there.
ReplyDeleteNoah I agree with u i cant stand waiting in line and then only being able to go on a couple of rides and that the amusment parks should make the lines better.Plus they think that because they have fast passes that cost all kinds of more money they solved the problem but they actually made it worse for the rest of us. I like your idea about only allowing in a certain amount of people but thats sort of bad because then you might drive all the way the there and not be allowed in I think the idea needs to be even better but good thinking.

ReplyDeleteI agree with Emily because when a friend uses you don’t expect it. I had one friend that kept conning me for money everyday. Other people said that she was using me but I never believed them. Then I noticed she was using me and I told her I didn‘t have any money. She started asking everyone else and didn’t bother with me much anymore.
We never talked after that.
